PERSONALITY: Akari is bright and cheerful, but not obnoxious about it. She is quick to smile and seems to be able to find the silver lining in every cloud. She doesn’t talk much, preferring to listen to others instead. She trusts easily, perhaps too easily, and is very loyal to her friends and village. However, she tends to get depressed when she’s alone and has often been found with tears in her eyes if she’s by herself for too long.

LIKES: Music, dancing, singing, fireworks--almost anything that makes noise.

DISLIKES: Being alone, narrow-minded people, bullies, feeling unable to protect herself or others.

WEAPON OF CHOICE: Sound

HISTORY: Akari was born in the Hidden Sound village. Her father was a respected Jounin and her mother was an ANBU captain until Akari was born, when she resigned from the position and began teaching at the Sound village’s Ninja Academy. At age 3, Akari demonstrated a unique ability--she could amplify and convert sound into energy and use it to create a defensive shield around herself and various other things. Her parents helped her develop her abilities and soon discovered that the louder the sound was initially, the stronger the shield (or whatever she was doing) was. This ability piqued the interest of the village leaders.

Two years after, her parents uncovered a plot to take Akari and train her as a weapon for the village, since her sonic abilities could be employed offensively as well as defensively. Not waiting for the village to come after Akari, her parents fled the country with her, leaving the village and everything they owned behind.

Eventually, they wound up in Konoha, posing as traveling merchants and decided to settle there after many years of wandering and running from shinobi hunters. Akari, now 11, was enrolled in the Ninja Academy. She slacked off the entire year--snuck out of class, slept during lectures, or just was a general goof-off--because she didn’t feel challenged. While on the run, her parents had taught her many of the jutsus being taught. Even with her poor grades, she graduated that year. She became a Chuunin at age 17.

JUSTUS USED: Aside from the basics that every shinobi is taught, Akari’s main jutsus are some she devised herself and can only be used in conjunction with her bloodline limit.

Barrier no Jutsu: She creates a near-impenetrable energy barrier around her and anyone she wants to protect. The strength and size of the barrier (as with all of her jutsus) is directly proportional to the level of noise she hears. So if she can only hear people breathing, her barrier will just barely protect her at points she concentrates on. If she’s listening to loud music on her headphones, however, her barrier can stretch to cover most of a city block and won’t let much of anything through.

Otonami (Sound Wave) no Jutsu: A seriously amplified wall of sound which ripples out from Akari. She can adjust the damage to do as little as make one a little dizzy or nauseous, all the way to bursting the eardrums or possibly rupturing blood vessels or major internal organs. She’s burst eardrums before, but nothing worse than that.

Hanabi (Fireworks) no Jutsu: Basically, this is a distraction technique. Akari creates a dazzling display of light sparkles. The brighter sparkles can temporarily flash-blind an opponent, but as stated earlier, the noise level has to be pretty high for that. She also uses this technique when she’s dancing, providing her own light show.

DREAMS, GOALS AND HOPES FOR THE FUTURE: To marry and raise a family of her own, and to protect her village and the people she cares for.

ANY EXTRA INFO: Due to her small stature, she is often mistaken for a much younger person (ie, 14), which annoys her to no end most of the time.

While she is scared of bugs, she has a terrible phobia of bees. She freezes up if she sees or hears one and cannot move until the ‘danger’ is past. If one happens to land on her, she completely freaks out and it takes quite a while for her to calm down.
